Pearl for HIV prevention with PrEP

On November 29th, during the National STI*HIV*Sex Conference in Amsterdam, a ZonMw “Parel” (Pearl) was awarded to drs. Elske Hoornenborg, head of the STI outpatient clinic at the Public Health Service Amsterdam (GGD Amsterdam). She received the Pearl for the Amsterdam PrEP project. This study has shown that PrEP, a pill that prevents HIV infection, is well applicable in practice. The project has contributed to the national provision of PrEP.
