NRC: GP hesitant about anti-HIV pill

A pill that provides good protection against HIV is now available in the Netherlands, but some GPs are reluctant in prescribing it. GP and H-TEAM member Jan van Bergen, professor HIV and STI in primary care at the University of Amsterdam, thinks that the GP is a vital link in reaching out to vulnerable groups that otherwise would not be seen at the Public Health Service. „The GP is the primary healthcare provider – that’s exactly where people will go with their complaints and questions.”
