H-TEAM @ NCHIV 2020
On Tuesday 24 and Thursday 26 November, the 13th annual Netherlands Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Epidemiology, Prevention and Treatment (NCHIV) will take place, this time virtually.
The NCHIV conference serves as a platform for different stakeholders in the Netherlands regarding pathogenesis, epidemiology, prevention and treatment of HIV. The conference includes four different sessions consisting of lectures, presentation of research and session within which link research to societal impact and policy development.
Various members of the H-TEAM will contribute to the NCHIV conference, both by presenting research as well as by giving poster presentations. Next to this, H-TEAM chairman Peter Reiss, as manager of Stichting HIV monitoring, will provide the opening and closing remarks of the conference.
During the first session HIV: Think Globally, Act Locally H-TEAM researcher Saskia Bogers (Amsterdam UMC-AMC) will give a presentation on ‘Promoting indicator condition-guided testing for HIV in the hospital setting (PROTEST 2.0): Baseline results of a multicentre intervention study’.
In the third session Cure HIV and Hepatitis: Now and in the Future Hanne Zimmerman (GGD Amsterdam) will present her research ‘Never tested for HIV: directions for a targeted testing intervention among men who have sex with men’, as part of the HIMPACT study. At the same time, Vita Jongen (GGD Amsterdam) presents ‘The effect of COVID-19 restrictions on daily sexual behavior and pre-exposure prophylaxis use among men who have sex with men’ as part of the AMPrEP study.
In the fourth session HIV Prevention and Cure: How to Best Serve the Client and Outsmart the Virus Liza Coyer (GGD Amsterdam) presents her research ‘Changes in condomless anal sex and sexually transmitted infections after PrEP initiation among men who have sex with men: a comparison of PrEP users to non-PrEP users’.
There will also be a poster presentation by Vita Jongen with regard to the AMPrEP study ‘Daily and event-driven HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis use among men who have sex with men in Antwerp, Belgium and Amsterdam, the Netherlands: a Tale of Two Cities’. Additionally, H-TEAM members Ard van Sighem (SHM) and Marc van der Valk (Amsterdam UMC-AMC) will both be part of different panel discussions.
The conference is organized by Stichting HIV Monitoring (SHM), RIVM-Clb, Aidsfonds, Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development (AIGHD), Amsterdam AMC-UMC and NVHB.

On December 1st, the Nationaal Congres Soa*Hiv*Seks 2020 will take place. The headline of the congress is ‘STD- and HIV prevention: a new era’, and the congress focuses on the following two questions: 1. What do recent developments entail for the future of STD- and HIV-prevention?; 2. What is the status of the ambition of getting the Netherlands to 0? The congress consists of a plenary session and different interactive sessions. During the interactive session on STD, HIV and Sex in the Netherlands during Covid-19 Liza Coyer, Ward van Bilsen (GGD Amsterdam) and John de Wit (Utrecht University) will speak about their research. Hanne Zimmerman will speak during the session on The prevention-menu: a new perspective on counseling.
